  • Making sure participants form single-file lines before starting
  • Ensuring the facilitator is clearly visible and audible
  • Choosing an open space where participants can stand comfortably
  • Preparing a space where all participants can see and hear the facilitator

QUESTION 3 ANSWER

Which action would NOT cause a participant to be eliminated from the game?

  • Laughing or talking during the game
  • Following a command that was not preceded by “Simon Says
  • Moving too slowly when following the facilitator’s instructions
  • Not performing the correct action that is called out after “Simon Says” is used

Following commands too slowly,  following a command without “Simon Says” being said or following what they see rather than what was said, all get the participants to fall out the game and play an observation role. To keep observers involved, require them to play the role of “policeman” and assist the facilitator in “catching” those who are making errors.

QUESTION 4 ANSWER

As a facilitator, what should you do to increase engagement and fun during the game?

  • Use varied and unexpected actions to keep participants focused
  • Stick to only a few simple actions so participants don’t get confused
  • Maintain a serious and strict tone throughout the game
  • Immediately remove any participant who makes a mistake

Using fun and unexpected actions (like flying motions, clapping patterns, or “Space Invaders” movements) helps keep participants engaged and focused. Start slow and allow for players to get into the game and get comfortable with the rules. Gradually increase the pace and complexity so that you don’t start eliminating players too soon. Keep it short (5-10min), light hearted and fun, this is not a serious game.

QUESTION 5 ANSWER

Which of the following is not part of the facilitator’s post-game discussion points?

  • Reviewing the physical fitness level of participants
  • Discussing how participants reacted to being eliminated
  • Analysing team dynamics and emerging leadership behaviours
  • Highlighting the importance of observation, listening, and adaptability

The post-game discussion should focus on behavioural insights, teamwork, and listening skills – not physical fitness. The purpose of this debrief  is to get participants to start reflecting – this means to look inwardly and try recall their their own feelings and behaviours, as well as identifying dynamics between themselves and their fellow participants (team dynamics).
